I recently volunteered to be a mentor for Speak Easy. I have been a public speaker for some time and I really enjoy being a speaker. It is great to be able to share your thoughts on testing, to get people to think about things that are important to you or share your experiences so others can learn from you.

Every project has a compelling story that can be told. Every tester has important experiences that can be shared. You do not need to have a world changing invention to start speaking. Sharing what happened in your last project and what others can learn from you can be enough to fascinate a group of people.

Speakeasy helps aspiring people to step over the threshold and start speaking at conferences. I like to help these people to speak up. It is fun and with a little help, it isn’t as hard as it might seem…
